Legacy ESM: Creating a Manual Vehicle for Vehicles Prior to 1980

Electronic Service Manual (ESM) and Chek-Chart information is not included on the system for some vehicle makes and models. Cars made before 1980 do not have information on the system and must be built as manual vehicles.

There are two ways you can create a manual vehicle during invoicing:

  • Enter a year before 1980 at the Year prompt.
  • Choose option 54 – Other at the Make prompt.

These instructions assume you are creating a vehicle by entering a year before 1980 at the Year prompt. To invoice vehicles newer than 1980 that are not in the ESM, follow these instructions.

Note: The legacy vehicle selection is only available at LubeSoft version 15.25 and older. On newer versions, you will have the browser-based vehicle selection.

Use the following steps to create a manual vehicle:

  1. On the Main Menu, select Lubrication Menu.
  2. Select Invoicing Menu (1).
  3. Select Bay Invoicing Station (1).
  4. Fill in the Enter New Vehicle ID field (and State or Prov field, if required) and press [Enter].
Note: If your store uses alternate IDs, you receive a prompt to fill in the License Number field (and State field if required). Fill in these fields and press [Enter].
  1. You receive a **NEW VEHICLE ID** message on your screen. At the OK to continue? prompt, do one of the following:
  • If the information is correct and you want to continue, type Y. Proceed to the next step.
  • If the vehicle ID is incorrect, type N. You return to the Bay Invoicing Station screen.
  1. If you typed Y to continue, you will receive the following screen.
Note: If the Club Auto PopUp field is set to A or B on screen 1 of the Center Control File, the Club Auto PopUp will appear.

  1. At the Enter the Year prompt, type the year of the vehicle, and press [Enter] to receive the Make screen.
Note: If the car was made between 1910 and 1954, type 55 as the year, and then change it on the Electronic Service Manual/Chek-Chart Lubrication Guide screen. The system does not accept vehicles older than 1955 at the Enter the Year prompt.
  1. At the Select The Make Of This Vehicle prompt, type the number of the Make.
  2. Press [Enter] to receive the Electronic Service Manual/Chek-Chart Lubrication Guide screen with the year and make filled in.

  1. Check that the year and make information are correct and make changes if necessary.
  2. Fill in the Model and Engine fields. Press [Enter] to move to the PARTS section of the screen.
  3. Fill in the Oil Filter, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Cabin Air Filter, Breather, and PCV Valve fields, if you know the correct item numbers for the vehicle created. If you do not know the correct item numbers, leave these fields blank.
Note: The PCV Valve and Breather fields will appear after entering through the previous fields.
  1. To receive the Enter Invoices – Invoicing screen, type Y to continue. You may continue the invoicing process the same as for regular customers.
