Reindexing All Vehicle Files

The time required to reindex all vehicle files varies among stores because it depends on the number of vehicles on the system. It usually takes a long time — anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the number of vehicles on your system. For more information on when and why you should reindex your files, see the article Information About Reindexing. The system reindexes the following files:

  • Manual Vehicle Vehicle Notes (from Note PopUp in Invoicing)
  • Information
  • Vehicle Information
  • Vehicle Service History
  • Vehicle Tax Information
  • Vehicle Tax Exempt Information
If all terminals are not at a login prompt during the reindexing, this process can cause unrecoverable damage to your system. Never reindex two different options at the same time. This can corrupt your files. You must log out all screens and alt-users except the one doing the reindex.

Use the following steps to reindex all vehicle files:

  1. On the Main Menu, select Lubrication Menu.
  2. Select Lubrication Utility Menu (8).
  3. Select Reindex All Vehicle Files (1) to receive the prompt You must log out all screens except the one doing the reindex. Files will not properly reindex if accessed by multiple users. Are all other users logged out (YES/NO)?
  4. Make sure that all users are logged out. Type yes and press [Enter] to start the reindexing process. You return to the Lubrication Utility Menu when the reindexing is complete. Type no to return to the menus.
