Using the Inventory File Utilities Menu

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Occasionally, a problem occurs with the data files, for example, when you have to kill a process, or when the computer locks up. The options on the Inventory File Utilities Menu allow you to clean up files that have been affected by a problem. You know a problem exists when data appears to be missing, or an error message suggests you need to do file maintenance.

Use the following steps to access the Inventory File Utilities Menu:

  1. On the Main Menu, select Lubrication Menu.
  2. Select Inventory Menu (7).
  3. Select Inventory File Utilities Menu (8) to receive the following screen.

Menu Option Function
Reindex Inventory Files Reindexes the inventory setup and daily statistics files.
Reindex Activity Files Reindexes the new activity and internal notes files.
Reindex History File Reindexes your inventory history file. Do not reindex your history file when the center is open because it takes a considerable amount of time.
Reindex Other History Files Reindexes inventory basic options, categories, service codes and locations.
Automatic .BAD File Cleanup This cleanup option is occasionally required to correct corrupted files that have duplicate data.
Fix LIFO/FIFO File This option cleans up the LIFO/FIFO file so it matches the inventory setup files.
