Reindexing All Files

The time required to reindex all files varies among stores because it depends on the number of vehicle records stored on the system. It usually takes a long time — anywhere from five minutes to several hours depending on the amount of information stored on your system. If all terminals and alt-users are not at a login prompt during the reindexing, this process can cause unrecoverable damage to your system. Never reindex two different options at the same time. This can corrupt your files. You must log out all screens and alt-users except the one doing the reindex.

Use the following steps to reindex all files:

1. On the Main Menu, select Lubrication Menu.
2. Select Lubrication Utility Menu (8).
3. Select Reindex All Files (4) to receive the following prompt: You must log out all screens except the one doing the reindex. Files will not properly reindex if accessed by multiple users. Are all other users logged out (YES/NO)?
4. Make sure that all users are logged out. Type Yes and press [Enter] to start the reindexing process. You return to the Lubrication Utility Menu when the reindexing is complete. Type No to return to the menus.
